Marcin Bobak

Double Bass / Poland

Marcin Bobak began to learn to play the double bass in the class
of mgr Piotr Augustyn in the 1st and 2nd degree F. Chopin State Music School
in Nowy Targ. This year he completed his studies at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice in the class of Jan Kotula. He is a laureate
of Polish and international musical competitions. For instance he won
the 3rd place at the Adam Bronisław Ciechański National Double Bass Competition in Poznań, the 3rd place during the International Competition “Double Bass Personality of the Year” in Wrocław, the 1st place in the 3rd Cello and Double Bass Competition in Kowalewo Pomorskie, the finalist
of the František Černy and Jan Geissel International Double Bass Competition
in Holice, the 2nd place winner at the 5th year of International Competition Double Bass of Carl Ditters von Dittersdorf in Banska Bistrica, and a semi-finalist of the Michał Spisak International Music Competition in Dąbrowa Górnicza.
In 2016 he had an honour to perform solo with the Subcarpathian Philharmonic under the baton of Tadeusz Wojciechowski during the Inauguration
of the Zenon Brzewski International Music Courses in Łańcut. Moreover,
he improved his skills with such stunning musicians as: Gary Karr, Thierry Barbe, Klaus Trumf, Thomas Martin, David Sinclair, Catalin Rotaru, Miloslav Jelinek
or Bogusław Furtok. He cooperates with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice. This year he was awarded with the scholarship of the programme “Młoda Polska” (Young Poland), organised by the National Cultural Centre.
