Krzysztof Kostrzewski was born on 31 May 1999. He began playing the double bass at the age of 10 in the class of prof. Aleksander Mazanek in the Stanisław Moniuszko 1st degree State Music School in Katowice. In 2018 he completed
the K. Szymanowski 2nd degree State Music School in the class of Łukasz Bebłot. He is a laureate of many double bass competitions; he received among others: the 2nd prize at the 1st Bonawentura Nancka National Double Base Competition in Bielsko Biała (2014), the 1st place at the 7th Polish Double Base Meetings in Mielec (2016), the 1st place at the International Competition
of String Instruments in Elbląg (2017), the 2nd prize in the 3rd Tadeusz Pelczar National Double Base Competition in Warsaw (2017), the 1st place
in the 4th Cello and Double Bass Competition in Golub-Dobrzyń (2018). He has performed both as a soloist and in an orchestra, e.g. in the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio in Warsaw, the Silesian Philharmonic and the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice. He’s been a member of Polish Youth Orchestra LYO three times.
The artist is also passionate about conducting. He has participated in the works of the Young Jury during the 10th G. Fitelberg International Competition
of Conductors and in master classes with the juror Michael Zilm. He has been improving his double bass skills during classes in Łańcut and in Lusławice supervised by prof. Jan Kotula and members of the Berlin Philharmonic.
He receives the scholarship from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
