Francesco Giussani was born in 1990 and began to play the bassoon at the age of 13 under the guidance of Giorgio Versiglia at the Gaetano Donizzetti Conservatory. He also completed studies with distinction in Novara (Italy), where he studied in the class of Diego Chenna. Then he began education at the Freiburg University of Music, where he completed Master’s studies
and graduated as a soloist. At the age of 22, he won the audition for the principal bassoonist of Bochumer Symphoniker and cooperated with this orchestra for 3 years.
In the subsequent years, he began collaborating with other renowned orchestras, such as: Philharmonische Orchester Freiburg, Philharmonie Baden-Baden and Orchestra Haydn of Trento. As a soloist and chamber musician,
he has taken part in many international festivals, such as Tbilisi Wind Festival, during which he cooperated with musicians such as: Nick Deutsch, Rob van der Laar, Giya Kancheli, Janne Tompsen and Levan Tskhadadze. He has also played with La Georgian Sinfonietta and performed the world premiere of Brass Quintet by Giya Kancheli with them. In 2016, he was the finalist of IDRS Fernand Gillet-Hugo Fox International Competition in USA, whereas 2 years later he won the 2nd prize at the Audi Mozart International Competition in Rovereto in Italy.
