Tomasz Hajda – left the guitar for trombone to win

6 March 2017

Spisak
first trombone of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, once a young boy who learned to play the guitar and trumpet, however, a perverse fate wanted the trombone to become HIS instrument – Tomasz Hajda – laureate of the 2nd edition of Michal Spisak International Competition.

He achieved successes as a newbie musician, however, participation in Spisak competition was a challenge for him. After winning the statuette of the composer from Dąbrowa in 2008, his career continued to develop. He received a scholarship from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage “Młoda Polska”. He recorded two CDs, issued by Polish Radio Katowice and Silesian Musical Society. In 2012 as a soloist he recorded with NOSPR “Sonatine” by Kazimierz Serocki, and two years later “Concerto for trombone and orchestra by Kazimierz Sikorski”.

As an artist he played all around the world, playing over 300 concerts in Poland and abroad, among others in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Russia, Sweden or Great Britain. He repeatedly participated in the most prestigious music festivals – Ludwig van Beethoven Festival, Warsaw Autumn Festival (where Michał Spisak was the frequent guest of honor), the Kraków Film Festival and others. He was recognized as a distinguished musician, appreciated by such masters as Alexander Liebreich, Kazimierz Kord, Christian Arming and Krzysztof Penderecki, under whom he performed with NOSPR.
