Jędrzej Kacprzyk was born in 1993 in Włocławek. When he was 15 he began
his music education in the double bass class of mgr Andrzej Wyrwicki
in the 2nd degree State Music School in Włocławek. After 4 years of learning
he began studying at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk
in the class of Janusz Dobrowolski, which he completed with distinction.
In the winter semester of 2015/2016 he studied at the Universität für Musik
und darstellende Kunst in Vienna in the class of a long-standing leader of the double bass group of Wiener Philharmoniker – Alois Posch. He has received prizes and distinctions at national competitions (the Adam Bronisław Ciechański National Double Bass Competition, the Academic Double Bass Competition
in Łódź, the Polish Double Bass Meetings in Mielec, the Auditions of the Artistic Education Centre). As a soloist he debuted with the Orchestra of the Academy
of Music in Gdańsk in 2016. He made world premieres of many solo
and chamber pieces, e.g. “A duo for the double bass and the piano” of Piotr Jędrzejczyk with Izabela Paszkiewicz and “A Concerto for the double bass
and the orchestra” of Szczepan Magier with the Gdynia Symphonic Orchestra. He is currently working on his PhD under prof. Leszek Sokołowski in his alma mater.
