6th Michał Spisak International Music Competition

27 April 2017

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have great pleasure to invite you to the 6th Michał Spisak International Music Competition.

Tis year’s edition promised to be very interesting, not only because of the number of participants, but also because of the level of their music skills. Almost a hundred young talented musicians from Poland and the whole world will compete in specialties: ute, oboe, bassoon. Many of them have already had a lot of achievements to their names. Who will win? Youth, enthusiasm, talent and passion for music characterise young instrumentalists. Will Dąbrowa be a witness to the birth of a new virtuoso?

I hope so. And likewise lovers of beautiful music, I am waiting impatiently for the beginning of the music competition. I wish good luck to the participants. Many aesthetic impressions and pleasure of contact with contemporary music in interesting arrangements to the listeners.
The idea of the competition, which motivated the organisers is on the one hand to commemorate Michał Spisak, an outstanding Polish composer, who was born in Dąbrowa Górnicza; on the other hand to give young talented artists an opportunity to display their skills to a wider audience. To compete on a really high level to gain the laurels of the winner in an international competition.

I would like young people to benet from these opportunities, to develop their talent simultaneously promoting Polish culture as well as our city and region.
I hope all the participants’ successes become the onset of a fantastic career and our city and participation in the competition remain forever a nice memory.
On behalf of the organisers, I warmly invite all music lovers to participate in this outstanding cultural event.

Zbigniew Podraza
Mayor of Dąbrowa Górnicza

Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Music Lovers,
The attention of all the people who are not indi erent towards classical music is once again focused on the Michał Spisak International Music Competition in Dąbrowa Górnicza. Music lovers will not be surprised that woodwind instruments appear at the competition for the second time. is is the moment, when, with such a format of auditions and specialties chan- ging each year, it is time for repetitions. Likewise 2007, the year when oboists and bassoonists performed, this year partici- pants have turned up in large numbers. In addition, the competition will really be an international event, considering a number of countries from which young partici- pants are coming.

It is worth emphasizing the fact that woodwinds are o en exposed in symphony literature, in which the most beautiful solo parts are entrusted with these instruments. However, it is not easy to hear them being played by soloists – the competition will o er a chance to it. I encourage you to closely follow presentations of young musicians, for whom such auditions will be a great opportunity to show their artistry; enchant the audience and jurors with their music proposal. Still this year, by the time the redecoration of the Palace in Dąbrowa Górnicza is nished, main auditions will take place in the Academy of Music in Katowice. You are thus welcome to visit our Academy and enjoy the music – distinguish di erences in sound, tone and skills which are di erent in individual musicians. Please make your own independent evaluations. Such listening may give you a lot of satisfaction.

prof. Tomasz Miczka
Rector of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music In Katowice
